This a Dichroic Glass Pendant from Renaissance Glass Studio
The glass used in this jewelry is called dichroic glass. The colors are a result of micro thin layers of metal oxides within the piece. The light is bent as it enters the glass and returns to your eye as brilliant color. Unlike dyes or pigments, most of the light is reflected back directly to your eye. This accounts for the unusual brilliance of the glass. The process involves many layers of glass and many steps to arrive at a finished piece. The glass is fired in a kiln as many as four times to over 1400 degrees. Each firing can take over several hours.
