The Lavandula angustifolia plant is a perennial that blooms once in the midsummer. This herb belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It's a bushy shrub with tiny, tubular blossoms with 12-18 inch flowers that spike upward. It is native to the Mediterranean and thrives in full sun with well-drained soils. Known across the board as the "Swiss Army Knife" of essential oils, Lavender (Bulgarian) has many uses and beneficial properties that were discovered over 2,500 years ago. The Egyptians used Lavender (Bulgarian) in their mummification process and used it as a perfume. Rumor has it when King Tut's tomb was opened in 1923, there was said to be a faint scent of Lavender (Bulgarian) that could still be detected 3,000 years later.
