Artist: Reyes Ferreira, Jesus (Chucho) 1880 - 1977 Original Mixed Media on Antique Paper/Rice Paper, Estate Stamp and original designed frame.
For decades Chucho has been considered Mexico's most unique painter, sculptor and collector. The influence and mastery of "Chucho" was recognized by many noted personalities as well as Picasso and Chagall who admired the inventive force and color of his painting. In Guadalajara and later in Mexico City Chucho Reyes produced what he called his 'smear papers" :sheets of India paper painted with washes of brilliantly colored aniline dyes that he prepared himself, with the occasional addition of silver or gilt. Though influenced by Georges Rouault and by Marc Chagall, whom he met in Mexico in 1942, he was one of the most original figures in 20th century Mexican art. Chucho had never left his beloved Mexico. To find more about this Master of art and much more read Excerpts about Chucho Reyes. It also lists his main solo exhibitions and a photo gallery.
Size of the Chucho designed frame is 32 x 42 inches. Unframed 19 x 42 inches.
